The basic carpet extractor tank has normally a water tank to hold water and carpet cleaning solution in it. There is a pump that pushes the water from the tank to the end of the wand. There carpet extractor has a nozzle which sprays water on the carpet in the fan shaped pattern. Usually carpet extractors throw the water from a heater coil that heats the water. Also built into the wand is a suction tool that is specially designed nozzle to concentrate suction over a long, thin area. The suction nozzle, using the powerful vacuum inside the extractor, pulls the cleaning solution and dirt from the carpeting into the dirty water tank on the carpet extractor.
