Carpet Fibers

Carpet term is normally used for a floor covering made of thick stuff such as polyester, olefin, nylon, acrylic and wool. Carpet gives luxurious and classical look to your home and gives warmth with wide range of different carpet fiber or material.
With the introduction of latest technologies, carpet industry has been able to produce a wide range of durable, stylish and comfortable carpets as never before in history. There are lots of carpet types available in the market. Carpets can differentiate by the wave of fabric used in the carpet making. A carpet could be made of loop pile and cut pile wave. These are two basic standards of carpet making. Each pile produces different characteristics and benefits like design, softness, thickness, warmth and durability.

The performance of carpet is similar to the performance of fiber used in you your cloth. The fiber of the cloth plays significant role in the quality, durability, colour strength and design. Carpet yarn is made of two fibers staple and continuous filament (BFC). Staple fiber is a series of short, 6 to 7 inches in length, strings spun together to form one continuous filament. Several of these are twisted together to form a thread of yarn. BCF fiber is a continuous filament manufactured as one long string. These are twisted and headset together to form a strand of yarn. Both of these processes create yarns that produce carpet products with different looks and characteristics.

Now a days, there are basically four main fibers used for carpet manufacturing and all fibers add their distinctive features. But all these fibers make excellent luxurious carpets. Using high technology, several companies are using blend of these fibers for the manufacturing of elegant carpet but normally a single fiber is used for the tufting of carpet.

- Nylon: It is the most commonly used fiber for carpet manufacturing. The major character of this fiber is its strength. Nylon is much durable in resilient fiber. It has incredible resistance against wear and tears. Even you will not find any worn at messy area nylon made carpet.

- Polypropylene: During last years the polypropylene fiber increased in popularity due to the manufacturing of barber carpet. It has great resistance against stains and moisture. It has amazing colour, it will not fade even if you clean it with bleach.

- Polyester: It is a versatile fiber used for carpet manufacturing. It adds wonderful softness and makes carpet thick and warm. Polyester made carpets are easy to clean and have great resistance against moisture stains.

- Wool: it is a natural fiber and usually very expensive as compared to other synthetic fibers. Wool adds soft, warm and comfortable feel to your carpet. It is not naturally power against stain resistance but it is easy to clean. Because of its high quality characters, wool fiber is mostly used in area rugs.
