Installing your wall to wall carpet is not an easy job. You don’t need professional skills and expertise for Do It Yourself installation. If your knee and back are in a bad condition. Then it is going to be hard for you to do it on your own. Usually carpet installation is a service that your carpet retailer provides you for free, additional to your carpet price. Installing your carpet by your own self can be critical. Proper wall to wall carpeting gives optimum value of your money that you spend on it. Meanwhile, proper installation adds elements of fineness and luxury.
If you don’t install your carpet properly, then it will not look fine. Any body can easily see where you have messed up with your carpet. Nevertheless, there is not a rocket science and special chemistry about the proper installation of your wall to wall carpeting. It’s work of common sense and use of some tools to make your installation fine and well looking. You may need these tools for proper installation of your carpet by yourself such as Tackless Strip, Staple, Hammer, Utility Knife, Chalk Line, Measuring Tape, Rollin Pin, Work Gloves, Safety Glasses, Knee Pads, Seam Cutter, Wall Trimmer, Seam Roller etc.
Some installation jobs are easier than others and are more suitable for the home handyman who's willing to tackle the job himself.
Before Do It Yourself Installation, you may need to do some things in advance that will help you to install your carpet easily without mess. First of all, vacuum your old carpet nicely before you go to remove it from floor. While you are removing your old carpet then you must make proper ventilation of your room. In this way you will find a dust free hygienic air to inhale. When you are done with removing of your old carpet, then vacuum your sub floor nicely and mend. Fasten your board floor as well.
This is the best time to mend your sub floor. Lie under pad on your sub floor and paste adhesive under edges of your carpet after cutting it in the required shape in accordance to your room measurement. New thicker carpet may prevent doors from swinging clear and free. During installation, remove the doors and re-hang them if possible. If the doors do not clear, arrange to have them trimmed. After finishing Do It Yourself installation, vacuum your new carpet. Fiber may be shed for few days. Vacuum the loose fiber, it will make them tight and strong.
