The first step for your carpet installation is to remove old carpet from your floor. If there is not any old carpet then it will be easier for you. Shut the door of the room entrance so you will be able to remove old carpet and install new carpet easily. Start by removing the molding around your floor then give good vacuuming to your carpet so that you do work in dust free air. After that, cut your old carpet into strips usually of 18 to 24 inches.
Remove old tackless ad install new tackless.
Closely observe your sub floor because it is the best time to mend or fasten your board floors to avoid any abnormality in future. Now lay down the under pad of your carpet that gives your carpet a strong grip on floor and also make your carpet softer. After cutting the carpet, put a piece of seaming tape on the floor underneath where they join, adhesive side up. Use the seaming iron to activate the adhesive. Now lay your carpet on the under lap and use a knee kicker to attach the carpet with edges. Now relax and give rest to your knees and stretch your back. Your installation is over now.
New thicker carpet may prevent doors from swinging clear and free. The installer will remove the doors and re-hang them if possible. If the doors do not clear, arrange to have them trimmed.
